Seri Melaka, Amcorp Mall

>> Saturday, May 10, 2008

I met up with my ex-captain of the Girls' Brigade today. Girls' Brigade is a uniform body & I was a member of it YEARS ago! Haha...it was a surprise to meet my ex-captain, Sulynn at Amcorp Mall, while I was there for my 1-week long training. Apparently, she's working nearby as a consultant! Wow...it's been too long since I last saw her... I first met her when I was 9 years old! *faints*

We promised to have lunch with each other today, so we ended up at Seri Melaka, on the 2nd Floor of Amcorp Mall. The food here is quite nice, but the price is certainly pretty high, especially if you order dishes & rice.

Here's what we had:

Inci Kabin
Chicken Bites - bite-sized pieces of chicken are marinated in soy sauce, oyster sauce, five-spice powder, black pepper, ginger and scallions, then dipped in egg and flour and deep fried. Popular as a bar snack, this dish can be served hot or cold.

Stir-fried Kangkung with Belacan
Belacan Water Spinach. Kangkung [also spelt Kangkong] is similar to spinach. It is also known as Water Convolvulus, or more commonly, Water Spinach. One of the most popular Malaysian vegetable dish - stir fried with a blend of chilies, dried shrimps and belacan

Mango Kerabu
Spicy-sweet Malaysian mango salad

Portuguese-style Steamed Fish
Steamed Siakap with sweet-sour-spicy Portuguese style sauce, topped with shredded young mango to give a sourish & appetizing taste

Sago Gula Melaka
Sago served with shaved ice & coconut milk with fragrant & sweet Malacca-sugar drizzled on top...I love this best! (but I think the Seri Melaka in SS2 serves way better Sago Gula Melaka!)

If you're craving for some authentic Malaysian food, this is an option for you! It's just a little too expensive for my pocket :P I'm really thankful to Sulynn for this wonderful meal & awesome catch-up :)
