KL Fish Head Noodles, Kuantan
>> Friday, September 21, 2012
Most of the time, when I'm back in Kuantan, I'll end up in the "same old food places". It's like revisits after revisits. Haha. This time around, I got to "try" something different/new i.e. fish head noodles in Air Putih. When I saw the shop, I was like "Huh?? KL Fish Head Noodles???"
I can't believe that a person like me from PJ/KL is in Kuantan for some fish head noodles, supposedly also from KL =.=" Anyway, AP & HW said that this place offers one of the better, if not the best fish head noodles in Kuantan. The place is relatively new & is more packed during breakfast. It's spacious, clean, & the menu is quite clear & straight forward too.
Fish (Fried) Head Noodles with Milk (RM7.00/bowl)
The noodles are just nice, but I find the milky soup lacking in "umph". Perhaps it lacks alcohol/Chinese cooking wine. It's somehow not as fragrant as the one from Kepong - my current favourite. I find the fish not as juicy as well. I personally feel that it's not "freshly fried", but maybe it's just today/that particular hour. I very much prefer deep-fried fish that is so crispy that even when you soak it in the soup, it will still be crispy 'til you can crunch through all the bones. Yums :) But on the overall, this fish head noodles is not too bad.
Herbal Tea (RM1.20/glass)
Not too sweet & it's not the cheapo "pak chi chou"! It's "loh hon kor" :D

If you're around the area or can't decide what to eat in Kuantan for lunch, this is not too bad an option. If given a choice, I think I will still prefer having the "fried porridge" to this particular fish head noodles. Heehee. It's my personal preference. You'll have to taste it to find out for yourself if this fish head noodles suit your tastebuds!

I don't mind some fish head noodles for lunch today! :D great shots!
@Ciki: The one that I like is in Kepong/Jinjang Lama, behind Brem Mall: Norway Salmon Fish Head Noodles. If not, the one at Damansara Heights behind Hock Lee's mini market is not too bad as well. These are the only 2 that I feel are worth eating since I haven't tried out many other places yet! :P
