Claypot Loh Shu Fun to Indulge
>> Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Venue: Restoran Yoke Heng, Seri Kembangan
Overall comment: Lovely & smooth claypot loh shu fun. The marmite pork ribs were excellent as well! The only thing is that the price is a 'lil higher than usual. Apart from that, all's good!
Halal: No
I was quite excited when I first heard about the plan to have lunch here (some weeks ago). The photos posted in vkeong's blog looked convincing. Plus since I know him, I was even more convinced that this must be good!
We weren't given the breakdown receipt of each dish, so I could only share with you on the total price that we paid. I felt that it was quite expensive eating here. I mean, it's really delicious, but I can SO feel the pinch when I had to pay such a high price for only "loh shu fun" & some meat + veggie dishes!
Total drinks damage: RM11.60 (coffee + 7 herbal tea)
Total food damage: RM117.00
Smooth, fragrant (cos of the fried dried shrimps & pork lard), flavourful & appetizing (especially if you add black vinegar into the broth). Once you try it, you'll ask for more! Seriously! It's just that I feel there's not enough loh shu fun compared to the mass of gravy in the claypot. Eating this does remind me of shark's fin soup, "taufu kang", and even "loh mee". There's the noodles, meat, black mushrooms, eggs, spring onions, fried pork lard & the powerful fried dried shrimps.
Deep-Fried Home-Made Beancurd with Prawns & Fish Paste
These were really delicious. I would recommend this (and the rest of the dishes that we ordered! it's just that the price is slightly higher & price has always been a concern for my meals especially lunch!) if you're eating here. The mixture of beancurd with prawns, fish paste, chili, & i-dunno-what-else made this really lovely :)
Simple yet refreshing. The beans were crunchy & the added fried garlic + fried dried shrimps gave an aromatic touch to the humble vegetable dish.
Lovely! The fish was fresh & smooth - nicely flavoured too. Although we felt that there was too much spring onions, somehow it didn't over-power the smell & taste of the fresh fish slices.
This is something unique/special that Yoke Heng boasts. It's of similar concept like the begger's chicken & the paper-wrapped chicken. The aluminum wrapping is supposed to help retain the heat & flavour of the cooked pork-ribs. The pork ribs were indeed delectable! Moist, soft, of the right size, & full of flavour :)
If you happen to be around Seri Kembangan area (especially nearer to South City Plaza area), do try this place out. You'll have to spend slightly more for your meal, but it's worth trying at least once :)
