Crispy Roast Pork Knuckles *crunch!*
>> Monday, April 12, 2010
Venue: Stadt German Cuisine & Bistro
Occasion: Farewell lunch for Shiv
Overall comment: Crispy roast pork knuckles to die for...as for the rest of the dishes, it's not too bad (not excellent). We had the set lunches & they weren't anything to shout about. Nevertheless, it's worth eating for the price you pay.

Fancy some reasonably priced German set lunch?
Yeap, for just RM17.00, you'll get a soup of the day, quite a large portion of garden salad, a main course, & a glass of ice lemon tea. Not too bad a deal, right? If you're working around Bandar Puchong Puteri or shopping around the area, pop-by to try out their food (especially the crispy roast pork knuckles!!!)
Here are some of the set lunch items:
I didn't really like the dressing somehow. It felt like a mixture of French dressing (vinegar sour) + mayonnaise :S Urgh...but mummy always said "Eat your vegetables", so I was a good girl...
I found it SO weird...hahaha...I was expecting the usual mushroom/corn soup or borscht by the least. Nope, it was 'potato soup' & it didn't exactly taste like the Chinese ABC soup, you know? It's just weird....watered down "what-so-ever" soup with bits of potatoes, carrots, & garlic thrown into the soup....eee....yes, I'm PICKY!
It's almost like the foot-long sausage. Not too bad. It's not like the "wow" German sausage, but good nonetheless. The mash potato was desirable, but the coleslaw wasn't up to my standard. The portion's quite small, eh? "Eat less, eat less....you're putting on too much weight" - tells self
The pork wasn't cured properly. It was SO dry & tough :S My poor friends who ordered this had quite a hard time downing the pork...hahaha...some fats would be great man - but it won't be pork loin anymore! How I wish they had some pork belly set!
Our first impression: Wow, breakfast set! Hahaha...when we tasted this, the first thing that came to our minds was "luncheon meat"! It seriously tastes like luncheon meat. Much easier to chew than the pork loin, no doubt :P It's nothing to shout about though...it's THE choice for people who have false teeth! You won't need to work out your mouth-muscles/gums too much :D
This was the most flavourful among all the set lunches. It's still a tad bland (needs more salt & herbs) & the portion is too small to fill up a hungry man...
This wasn't in the set. Shiv ordered this as she didn't fancy any one of the set lunches in the menu. The cordon bleu wasn't all that fantastic either. The meat is somewhat tough! Not cured properly (again), I suppose. What more can I say?
It seems like from all the comments that I have provided above, you may not want to dine at this place after all, eh? Don't take my judgements 100% until you try the place out yourself. My taste & likings aren't the same as yours & these are just my personal opinions!
BUT...
You MUST try this one!
This was the bomb! Do I need to repeat myself? IT'S DA BOMB! Crispy, crunchy skin & lovely, meaty pork knuckle....oh, even if you don't fancy the set lunches above, you have to try this at least once & share your experiences with me! The roast pork knuckle is much nicer with honey :) The portion is also very generous & you MUST NOT eat this alone - share it with at least 3 persons! *burp*
Maybe lunch isn't all that important to their business since most working adults will want a reasonably-priced quick lunch before heading back to office :)
Shiv, hope you're doing great in your new company!! We miss you loads!
