What to eat in Kuantan: Foochow Egg Noodles at TST Meng Kee

>> Tuesday, June 7, 2016

The aunty must have found it extremely weird when I asked her to recommend what I should try from her stall. Hahahahaha....it's just a normal coffeeshop that sells delicious chicken rice (my favorite in Kuantan) & another stall that sells noodles of all sorts. I reckon it's very rare for anyone to ask a simple noodles stall aunty to recommend something for them to try! :P (AP is sure to shake his head & laugh at me again...)

Foochow Egg Noodles in Soup (RM5.00/bowl)

Well, you can't really blame me as I can't read much Chinese & none of the photos show something extremely different. One of C2's friends told her that the noodles stall serves some 'special' type of noodles & all we had to do was to point at the photo of the newspaper cutting. Right....the aunty 'updated the collection of photos' & now every type of noodles has a photo! *lol*

Anyway, I managed to try this noodle somehow & it was an interesting experience in the mouth :) It's smooth like kuey teow (rice flour noodles) but slightly chewy like tapioca balls too! The soup is alike the pan mee's soup, but not as 'sweet' as the vegetable used is different. Overall, it was a nice change of textures & it just excites me to try another new dish in Kuantan :)

You can find various recipes online on how to make this noodle on your own. The 2 main ingredients are tapioca flour & eggs ;)
