Seafood Noodles, Restoran Yu Ai

>> Saturday, August 4, 2012

Overall comment: Thick santan-filled curry broth with a generous load of fresh seafood (can't compare to KK though) with noodles that soak up all the flavourful soup. Price is quite steep though, so be prepared with at least RM20.00 for a meal here...I actually won't pay this much for a bowl of seafood curry noodles, so it's up to your personal judgement if it's actually worth eating & paying.
Halal: Yes

If you think we were over our seafood "marathon" once we landed back in PJ, we were not! On the following day after we landed in LCCT, AP craved for curry mee. I'm not a great fan of curry noodles, so I actually didn't know where I could get a good bowl of curry noodles. The only place where he could think of is Restoran Yu Ai, that not only serves curry noodles, but curry SEAFOOD noodles! Oh my my...I, myself was in great disbelief that we're walking into a seafood noodles restaurant after our trip to KK...I thought we're done & over with seafood... :S

Restoran Yu Ai (Segambut) - PJ branch
Believe it or not, it's my 1st time at this restaurant! Proves how often I eat out on a daily basis for lunch/dinner, eh? On workdays, I'll usually pop-by some coffeeshop near office, so Yu Ai is a little out-of-league. Once I get back from work, I'll be too lazy to head out for dinner, so I'll just cook something up. This restaurant has been here for years now & even AP's parents from Kuantan have been here several times & love the seafood curry noodles that Yu Ai offers. "Saya telah gagal..." :( They also serve clear soup & tom yam soup noodles here.

Black & White (around RM2.50/glass - I can't recall)
This drink, albeit very common, is one of their best-sellers. It's refreshing (can be quite filling too) & the soya milk is quite "thick" & smooth. The cincau is finely chopped so that you'll get loads of cincau in every mouthful.

Sambal Belacan Dipping
This is good. The dried shrimps + chilli gives an added "kick" to the already spicy noodles :D

Seafood Curry Meehoon (RM19.00/large or RM17.00/regular)
The photos below show a large bowl of noodles. I decided to order a large bowl to share with AP since it's only RM2.00 difference. I was quite shocked to see the price on the menu & was almost reluctant to eat. But I know that if I refuse to eat due to the price, I'll surely get sounded...hahaha...so we just ordered a large bowl for sharing. It's enough for sharing if you don't have a large appetite ;)

As you can see, each bowl of seafood noodles comes with a heap of seafood. We had 4 moderately large prawns, sotong/cuttlefish, lala, mussels, fish & of course the usual "taufupok". I kinda enjoyed the sweet-ish, spicy, savoury santan-filled curry broth with the meehoon & seafood. I just find it too costly to have it often :S

All the shells!

Will I have curry noodles here again? Hmm...maybe (if I want seafood curry noodles). I'll share with someone instead of ordering 1 bowl myself because it's too expensive. Some said it's over-rated, some still think it's worth paying the price. So, you let me know if it's worth eating, yeah? :)
