Bella Italia, Jesselton Hotel, Kota Kinabalu

Overall comment: Decent western-style breakfast although quite expensive. It's like paying for a breakfast meal at a cafe in Bangsar/KL, but since one of our friend's uncle recommended, we decided to find out what's so great about the breakfast here. PerutBesi's verdict - nothing that great! I think I could do just the same or perhaps better? :P
Halal: Yes

** time for a break from my seafood dinner posts! :D **

This is probably the 1st breakfast post that you would notice from my posts on my KK trip, eh? It's quite true since we had my home-baked chocolate cupcakes for breakfast on Day 1, McD's breakfast for Day 2, bread from Giant hypermarket on Day 3, & so on Day 4, we decided to have breakfast in town. I didn't get to have my noodles of sort (mee Tuaran, fish paste noodles...etc), but oh well, makes me look forward to another trip to KK!

We decided to check out Bella Italia at Jesselton Hotel all because of an uncle's recommendation. He said it's really good! After completing my meal, I'll say "neh....not all that awesome la...good, but nothing special."

Their breakfast menu (RM18.00 ++ - RM26.00++/set)
All breakfast sets come with a glass of fruit juice of the day, a cup of coffee/tea, 2 slices of bread with butter or jam, & the main breakfast platter.

The environment of the restaurant
We were there around 10a.m. so most people would have had their breakfast already :P

My juice of the day i.e. honeydew + hot tea

Toasts + butter/jam

AP's American Breakfast Set (RM25.00++/set)
2 pancakes, 2 eggs (the way you want it cooked), beef bacon, sausage, Bella's sauteed potatoes
Doesn't look like anything "wow", right? The sausage tastes slightly weird though. It's not your usual sausage. Words just can't describe...hahaha...acquired taste, maybe?

My English Breakfast Set (RM25.00++/set)
Beef bacon, turkey ham, grilled tomato, 2 eggs (the way you want it cooked), Bella's sauteed mushrooms & potatoes
I had my 2 eggs poached & the rest was as per the menu. I guess the food was alright - I ate it the way I want it to be!

The way I want it to be...yums...with the egg yolk oozing out...

I don't think I will purposely have breakfast at Jessolton Hotel unless I'm dying for an English/American breakfast (or if I'm feeling too rich). I reckon locals will laugh at us for believing in this recommendation? Haha. It's an experience, no doubt.

Oh well, I still want to try my Mee Tuaran. It's just that we didn't have THAT many days for breakfast & we were too lazy to wake up early for breakfast on our last day in KK.

For RM25.00++, I think I should spend it on eating various local dishes instead of a western breakfast :P In my personal opinion, this is not a very pocket & appetite-friendly breakfast after thinking through carefully... it's a good treat though to self though...
