Review: Yatta! Promotion
>> Saturday, July 7, 2012
The Yatta! Promotion is back!
With this Yatta! (meaning "Hooray!") Promotion, you'll get to enjoy a wide variety of Japanese dishes for HALF THE PRICE this July & August at Shokudo, Armada Hotel Petaling Jaya - all items on its menu! No kidding!
From RM4.50++ onwards, you can dig in to a plate of fresh & delicious maki & you can even get a satisfying Shabu-Shabu meal for 2 persons at RM19.00++!
Looking at the menu, I think I personally would visit Shokudo time after time throughout July & August for its Grilled Cod Fish a.k.a. "Gindara Shio" (RM14.00++ after discount), Unagi Kabayaki Set (RM19.00++ after discount), & my all-time favourite Deep-Fried Chicken Bites a.k.a. "Tori Kara-age" (RM7.50++ after discount). It could probably be the most affordable/cheapest Japanese lunch (quality & quantity not compromised unlike those coupon deals!) that you can ever find in PJ & probably KL as well!
Available only for during lunch hours i.e. from 12:00p.m. - 2:30p.m. every Monday - Saturday throughout this July & August, this Yatta! Promotion is sure to be a crowd-puller. Just to whet your appetite, here are some dishes that I've tried during the review & would recommend as well!
Gyoza (RM7.50++ after discount)
This is one of the chef's speciality; he even hand-makes the skin of the gyoza! Interesting :D My 1st time sampling their gyoza was earlier this year in March. You can find a photo of how the inside of the gyoza looks like here. The gyoza basically is a mixture of minced chicken + ginger + vegetables wrapped in a thin skin & pan-fried to perfection.
My all-time favourite Tori Kare-age (RM7.50++ after discount)
This is alike the KFC's pop-corn chicken, but WAY better! I 1st had this in March as well & having it again is just awesome! I'm gonna be back for more!
Armada's Sashimi Boat/Assorted Sashimi (RM64.00++ after discount)
Oh my goodness...this is SO worth eating! The usual price is RM128.00++, but with this 50% off for July & August, you can basically dig in on fresh sashimi to your heart's content for half the price!
Assorted Sushi (from RM5.00++ - RM27.50++)
No kidding...their Chirashi Sushi is the most expensive on the sushi menu & you're only paying RM27.50++ instead of RM55.00++! *faints* It's like having Japanese food back in Kuantan! Woohoo!!
Assorted Maki (from RM 4.50++ - RM11.00++)
The lowest-priced maki is the Oshinko/Kani Stick/Kappa Maki a.k.a. pickled Chinese cabbage/crab stick/cucumber maki, while the highest-priced maki is the soft shell crab maki. To pay RM11.00++ for a plate of soft shell crab maki is REALLY WORTH it! If I'm not mistaken, the one below is the California Maki (RM9.00++ after discount). It's good!
Gindara Shio (RM14.00++ after discount)
This is something that I will be back to have again! You'll probably have to remind the chef not to pan-fry it for too long cos this one was a tad over-cooked. It's still moist, but it could be "moist-er" :P
Shabu-Shabu Set (RM19.00++ after discount for 2 pax)
The photo below shows the portion for 2 pax...you can opt for chicken or beef. If you want salmon, it's an additional cost of RM7.50++ after discount! Fuyoh..."eat 'til you faint in satisfaction ar"! :D
Beef for the Shabu-Shabu
Chicken for the Shabu-Shabu
Salmon for the Shabu-Shabu
Sauces for the Shabu-Shabu
The food items were fresh & tasty just as it is (in my personal opinion), but if you want more flavour, there's soya sauce & miso sauce to accompany your meat & vegetables.
Cook-it-yourself :D
This is the fun of having Shabu-Shabu. The soup base is a fish base, which is actually very fragrant & interesting too. I personally felt that there's no "fishy" smell or taste to it, so it went really well with the vegetables & meat :) Cook your vegetables first to make the soup "sweeter" & then cook your meat according to preference of texture.
Agedashi Tofu (RM5.00++ after discount)
I didn't try this as I was too stuffed after such a heavy meal, so you'll have to try it yourself :)
After all the photo-taking, we were served individual portions of the food. My, my, it's madness. I was really full at the end of the lunch & had a good time meeting Becky & 5 other bloggers & friends whom I haven't met :) Nice!
Tori Katsu Don (RM10.00++ after discount)
The portion below is a tasting-portion. The actual portion is quite generous. I've a photo of it from my previous review, so do check it out :)
