Solo Travel Part 10 - Tanjung Tualang

>> Thursday, December 9, 2010

Tanjung Tualang is yet another area not too far from Kampar...it took us also another 40+ minutes drive from Kampar town for a lovely seafood dinner :)

As we didn't know which seafood is THE best, we just ended up at a restaurant, which WY felt was familiar (her brother's friend recommended 1 restaurant last time, but she couldn't fully recall which is the exact one). After eating there, I found out that it's the better/best seafood restaurant at Tg Tualang after all! Woots :D

Fresh prawns!

Restoran Luen Fong was our chosen one!

Special "home-made" chilli mix to accompany the seafood, especially the fried ones

There were just the 2 of us for dinner, so we couldn't order too much. Furthermore our late lunch didn't give us any opportunity to indulge into more seafood....and ahem...our cholesterol level is at stake as well :P

1/2 kg Steamed Prawns
The prawns were really fresh...they were still swimming before their life ended...hahaha. The flesh is sweet, "crunchy", & the whole dish's taste just felt very naturally pleasant :) I will recommend the prawns to be served steamed than fried. You'll get to taste the "originality" of the prawns!

Just check out the ooze!

And the roe?

 Deep fried squid rings
Crispy, light battered squid, deep fried 'til golden brown. Oolala...! The batter wasn't too thick, which went very well with the chewy squid rings. Thankfully the squid rings weren't too tough nor too soft! Yums :)

Stir-fried Sweet Potato Leaves with Belacan
We enjoyed the taste of the dried shrimp belacan. It wasn't too spicy, & the fragrance of the dried shrimp complimented the almost tasteless vegetable very well :)

In total, we spent RM45.00 for the whole meal, inclusive of tea (we didn't have rice as we were quite full from a late lunch). I thought it was quite a worth-paying meal - simple, delicious, & considerably cheap. But oh, I still miss the seafood in Sabah (CHEAP & FRESH)!!

If you're around Kampar/Ipoh area, you might want to try out some seafood at Tanjung Tualang ;) It's relatively easy to find...if you've the GPS, just check out on Market Street, Tg Tualang & you'll get there without much hassle!

Now I have to say that Kon Cheen prawn is the best in Tanjung Tualang... u should have ordered this style rather than steamed version...
