Leong Ya Recipe, Seri Kembangan

Venue: Leong Ya Recipe, Seri Kembangan
Occasion: Lunch with colleagues
Overall comment: Not bad :) Ambiance is nice - air-conditioned! & the taste of food is average. Price is slightly above average, but certainly not to the extend where it is not worth paying for the food you get :) My colleagues think that the Yong Tau Foo down the road is better, & same goes the paper-wrapped chicken.
Halal: No
Total bill (inclusive of rice & drinks) = RM81.70 for 7 persons
Complimentary Soup
Most Chinese restaurants in Seri Kembangan (SK) area provide a large bowl of free soup with the meal order. It's not some great soup, but just something simple to keep the customers satisfied (free things always earns extra "brownie points", don't they?)

Paper-wrapped chicken (RM3.00/piece)
I thought the paper-wrapped chicken/"chi pao kai" was quite nice. But some colleagues felt that there was too much ginger. I thought it's good, although it could be more flavourful & fragrant. There's something missing...but I don't know what. What's best about the chicken served here is the generous portion of gravy that comes with the packet of chicken :) Me likey...

Only drumsticks & chicken thighs are served
Mix Yong Tau Foo (RM15.00/15 pieces)
It's the easiest to order instead of picking out what we want one by one. Paying RM1/piece is indeed quite expensive. It's not very delicious, but it's edible. I've yet to try the better one down the road that Alex & Rao were talking about...in PJ, YTF at SS3 (beside Shell petrol station) & at O & S in Paramount Garden are the best!

Deep-fried "Lai Yau" Squid Rings (RM18.00)
Quite tasty, but certainly we've tasted better ones! Thank goodness the squid rings aren't tough to chew, which gives it extra points.

Stir-fried Kangkung with Belacan (RM13.00)
Well done. If only the belacan is more fragrant. Otherwise, it's good! Oh ya, this dish IS expensive...veggie for RM13?? Fuh... :S

Coming to think of it, it is quite expensive to eat here...hahaha...the only 'actual meat' that we had was the paper-wrapped chicken...
