N.E.S.W. - North (Penang, Day 3)

>> Sunday, November 8, 2009

Dates: 23 - 25 October 2009, Friday - Sunday
Venue: Penang
Occasion: Visitation to the Northern District TRAC MYF committee members, Penang Wesley youths, & Penang Trinity youths.

Day 3
It was our last day in Penang...how time flies...we didn't do very much on the last day, but we managed to meet our 'target' for the day, which was to visit the youths in Penang Trinity church during their youth meeting before church service.

Meeting them was a real pleasure. James & I, with Glenn joining us, had the opportunity to join the youths for a time of worship, bible study, & fellowship. We had a good time catching up with them as well as to listen to them share about their lives.

After youth meeting, we attended the church service, which starts around 10a.m. It's my 1st time worshiping at Penang Trinity & I was kinda excited (I've been to most of the english-speaking Methodist churches in the whole of Msia). It was just good to worship together with the Penangites & do our final chit-chat with them before we left for PJ once again.

Jane & Daniel brought us out for lunch at this famous tea house. In my mind, I thought that a tea house would mean something like a cafe, but no, this tea house is actually a Chinese restaurant, but I reckon it's well-known for its various kinds of tea served. They even had a whole glass cabinet to showcase their collection of interesting-looking tea pots of all shapes & sizes!

Here we are at Four Seasons Tea House, & here's to share with you a glimpse of what we had for lunch that day...oh by the way, I can't provide you the prices of the dishes as Daniel paid for lunch & it wasn't of great manners to ask for the price since someone treated us :) But I heard that the price of the food there is actually very reasonable (otherwise the place wouldn't be packed with people & we had to wait for our table!)

Mocha Pork Ribs
Delicious & quite tender pork ribs (oh did I forget to mention that it was well marinated too? :D) smothered with mocha-flavoured sauce :) *lip smacking* If only the sauce was stronger in mocha taste - that would make this dish perfect!

Oyster Noodles/"Orh Mi"
Only found in Penang (as to my knowledge). The oysters were very fresh & very juicy *yums*, enhancing the simple yellow noodles dish tremendously! I could just have this for lunch alone :D It's a MUST try if you're eating at Four Seasons :D

Stir-fried Kai Lan
Well done tender kai lan....but I still feel that the kai lan we had the night before at Tomyam Udang was MUCH better!

Steamed Cat Fish with Bean Sauce (new dish)
This is a very interesting steamed fish dish. I've no idea what's the actual name of the dish as the lady recommended the dish in Hokkien. My understanding of the Hokkien language is too minimal :P The bean sauce isn't like the usual spicy bean sauce a.k.a. "Cheong Cheng" (Steamed with sauce). I'm suspecting that this bean sauce has bean paste ("meen see" in Cantonese), lemon juice, pepper, & some chili. It's salty & slightly sourish :) Nice!

Signature Beancurd/Taufu
Deep-fried beancurd mixed with some other ingredients like prawns, turnip...etc...I can't recall clearly what's contained in the "puff", but it was good :D

Cream of Peanut Dessert/"Fa Sang Wu"
I don't really fancy this kinda dessert. This one's a 'lil diluted :S Expect this dessert to be sweet & a 'lil salty, just like the peanuts you eat in restaurants before the dishes are served.

Dessert: Lotus Paste Biscuits/"Wo Peng"
Deep-fried pastry with pandan-flavoured lotus paste. Also not my kind of thing. I reckon I'm not a fan of Chinese desserts like these :S
