Remember 126 Restaurant, Bkt Tinggi

>> Sunday, October 18, 2009

Date: 9 October 2009, Friday
Venue: Remember 126 Restaurant, Bukit Tinggi New Village
Occasion: Dinner with a bunch of new-found friends
Overall comment: Quite a decent place for some good Chinese food. Price is reasonable & most importantly, the taste of the food there is good :)
Halal: No

It was a rather interesting weekend for me; perhaps a rather rushed one, but nonetheless good. My good doctor friend, Dr YC Kuan & his now wife, Irene, had their wedding on the 10th of October 2009 in Kuantan. His friends who were working in KL & surrounding areas traveled together, so I kinda piggy-bagged them :P I've no idea who they actually are, but I trusted Kuan that these are nice people :) My new-found friends were Dr CK Chiu, Dr WC Law, Norman, & Charis. It was nice meeting them & having a meal with them.

We were heading to Kuantan after work that Friday evening & decided to stop by Bukit Tinggi New Village for dinner. There were so many restaurants there that it was a tough decision on which restaurant to try out & which would be worth having dinner :D In the end, we had our dinner at Remember 126 Restaurant.

The restaurant's area was quite large. It's non-air conditioned (there's no need for air-con there since the air is quite cool - the area is near Genting Highlands), has many tables & could accommodate large groups. Service there is alright - typical Chinese restaurant, & the food is also quite good :)

Claypot Beancurd/Taufu (around RM16.00)
One of the largest dishes served! This dish is very common & I've no complaints whatsoever.

Curry Wild Boar (around RM12.00)
A must try if you're a fan of wild boar meat! The curry was very flavourful & goes very well with rice. I can just have this dish with rice itself :P The curry is dry, mildly spicy, & the wild boar slices were tender *drools*

Stir-fried "Tin Chat" Veggie with Garlic (RM6.00)
This is quite a rare veggie. You may not be able to find it in every Chinese restaurant, but if you come across this, you should try. The texture is very similar to the "dai wong miu" and the "san choy". The leaves are thick & "sappy/slimy" when chewed on. It's CK's 1st time trying this veggie & I reckon he kinda likes it ;)

Steamed Red Talapia in Spicy Bean Sauce (RM24.00)
The fish was fresh & the spicy bean sauce has a unique taste! I think they added some lemon juice/assam skin to the sauce for a sourish/tangy "kick". It makes this simple & common dish very, very delicious!
