It's rather rare that I will leave Cyberjaya on a weekday night, but for a catch-up session such as this, why not? ;) We're supposed to meet up with Rev. Ong for a simple catch-up & refreshing time with each other, but unfortunately, he wasn't well that day, so Hans, James, Shu, Quin jie, & myself went ahead with meeting up nonetheless. The meet-up was a good get-away from the usual routine of a weekday night. Although it was rather far for me to travel all the way from Cyberjaya to Taman S.E.A. & back, it was really worth-it.
The food at Hoi Thong made it worth the drive as well. The place is not too difficult to locate since it's very near the LDP highway. However, you'll have to drive almost a whole round since the restaurant is located at the back of a 'circle of shophouses'. The place isn't air-conditioned, but is well ventilated. You can just expect a humble restaurant tucked in the middle of 'no-where', but is well patronized by people from near & far.
The crabs were very meaty, but I was actually expecting the usual "ketchup"/tomato-base sauce instead of this! *lol* I didn't know that this is the sweet & spicy crab in Hoi Thong....then what's the tomato-base crabs called?? *confused* Sweet & Sour?? Anyhow, the taste is not too bad. It's quite tangy due to the pickled green chillies, slightly spicy, & slightly sweet too :) Appetizing ;)
This is the BEST dish ever ever ever! Once you start on one piece, you will never want to stop! The crispy batter enveloping each chicken piece, alongside the tasty chicken skin that secretes a minimal amount of oil when you bite into it, & the tender & juicy, well-marinated chicken meat, is just lip-smacking; irresistible! *woots!* drools at the sight of the photo below while reminiscing on the unforgettable taste of the fried chicken*
The fish was 'attacked' before I could take a photo of its "handsome look in glorious sauce" *lol* Poor fish...devoured within seconds! Yums! The fish was very fresh & the sauce was no doubt appetizing. The lady's finger was too old though *sigh* What a disappointment...Thank goodness the fish & the sauce was good, so do-away with the beans! Hmm...this dish was a 'lil over-priced, don't you think so?
Fresh & tender sweet potato leaves, delicious even by just stir-frying :)
