Lunch at EB's & Dinner at Cinta Ria, DJ

>> Monday, April 27, 2009

Date: 18 April 2009, Saturday
Venue: EB's grandma's house
Occasion: Lunch with EB & EB's grandma

EB cooked lunch! What more could I say? It's the 1st time I'm having 'home-cooked' lunch with EB...yum yum! Lunch was pretty simple, but the fellowship was just lovely :) *happy*

"Thank you for the lovely lunch, EB!!"

*****
Venue: Cintaria @ DJ, Damansara Jaya
Occasion: Dinner with James & Chris

It's my 1st time here at this cozy restaurant in Damansara Jaya, on the same row as Domino's Pizza, near Atria Shopping Centre. Three of us dropped by for dinner after our TRAC MYF visitation to SSMC's youth group before heading off to TMC for the cantata.

Cintaria @ DJ is opened by Catherine & Christopher Chin, members of Emmanuel Methodist Church, PJ. The restaurant offers a variety of Malaysian food as well as Western dishes to whet one's appetite :) They boast their famous Cinta Ria's Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang & the Cinta Ria's Grilled Chicken set...quite nice! Price wise, it's average for a cafe, so it's not too bad a place to dine :)

Fresh Mushroom Soup (around RM6.90/serving)
This is really good...far better than 6 to 10's (another Western food place in Section 17). I like having chunky fresh mushrooms in the smooth, creamy soup, & having a slice of toasted garlic bread to accompany the soup just makes savoring the soup more satisfying ;)

Cinta Ria's Special Nasi Lemak (around RM7.90/serving)
The rendang's really good! They really didn't compromise on the ingredients & it seems like much effort has been placed to make the simple nasi lemak yummilicious! :) *thumbs up!* Oh ya, Cinta Ria boasts of its home-made accar (spicy pickled vegetables) as well...nice :)

Ruth when she got her food...

Happy Ruth with her food...

Roast Chicken Set (around RM13.90/set)
The set comes with a quarter roast chicken, roasted to perfection to ensure that the chicken turns out moist & tender, a generous serving of coleslaw, & creamy mashed potato (which for Ruth should be more! Love mashed potatoes!!) covered in fragrant mushroom sauce. *drools*

Caesar Salad (around RM10.90/serving)
Fresh. Light. Tasty. Filling! I love the presentation :) Somehow we just wonder why Caesar salads are so expensive, but it's all worth eating!

Cinta Ria's 4 Colors (around RM6.90/glass)
I can't really recall what's the actual name of this drink, but it sounds something like that. Very refreshing! If you fancy having bits & pieces of surprises in your drink like cincau, nangka (jackfruit), & cendol, this drink's for you! Yums!

* Omg...what happened to my 4 colors photo??! *faints* Too lazy to edit it d...

Tong's Farewell

>> Saturday, April 25, 2009

Date: 17 April 2009, Friday
Venue: Restoran Kee V, Kajang
Occasion: Farewell lunch for Tong
Overall comment: I've written about this restaurant before, but I guess it has improved on its variety & publicity since the last time I ate here! The food, service, & price is good :) *thumbs up*
Halal: No

*Sorry for the delay in posting on this blog... :( *

It was one of the rare occasions that a group of us (colleagues) will drive all the way to Kajang for lunch. Well, it's not all that far from Cyberjaya to Kajang, but it takes at least 30minutes :)

I've only been here once, so I couldn't recall how to get there...but all thanks to Google Map, we got there without much trouble! :D Below are some pics taken at the restaurant...if you're around that area, do try this place out ;)

Restoran Kee V's Menu
They have a menu! *gasp* Sudah maju...

Kajang's Famous Spicy Soup (RM8.00/head)
It's something like 'bah kut teh', but the soup is clear & pepperish (gets more spicy as you eat) & it is very fragrant because of the Chinese parsley that they put on top of the soup :)

Claypot Chicken cooked in Chinese Wine (RM8.00/head)
This is another must have when dining in this restaurant :) The chicken is "just nice" (not over/under cooked) & the fragrance of the wine makes the sizzling hot chicken dish really tasty!

Kee V's Deep Fried Red Talapia (RM19.00)
One of the best deep fried fish I've ever had! It's SOOOO crispy that you can even eat the bones!! :P *yum yum yum*

Claypot Spicy Squid (RM9.00/head)
This dish is actually very tasty, but it's too spicy for my liking! *on fire* After drinking the spicy soup, eating this spicy squid dish is a big no-no.... :S

Easter Weekend in Kuantan

>> Monday, April 13, 2009

Dates: 10-13 April 2009, Friday-Monday
Venue: Kuantan
Occasion: Easter weekend/Home-coming

Woohoo!! I just came back from Kuantan :D It was a rather refreshing weekend-getaway...or a somewhat 'home-coming' back to the town which I kinda claimed as my own several years back...hahaha...

All I did for the 3+days in Kuantan were sleep, eat, & meet up with people....lol. Super slacker man...but awesome nonetheless!

I arrived on Thursday night/Friday midnight after work & didn't do anything much except to visit the Teluk Cempedak beach & called it a night...what a Thursday...

Day 1
I pretty much spent Day 1 lazing away... what a break after several weeks of work, work, work :P I had brunch at San Hin in Air Putih with uncle Francis, before spending the rest of the afternoon at aunty Helen's house, just chit-chatting, playing with the new doggie (Benji), & playing with Phoebe :) Nice. A day well-spent, I would say. Hahaha....

Super cute, right??! :D

San Hin's Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun - RM3.50/plate (small)

At night, I went to the Chew's residence with Aaron for a birthday+engagement party. Food was really good (mostly home-cooked by different families) & the fellowship was nice :) I had a good time there....hehehe....what a night....after dinner was lazing at his place before heading back my home for the night's rest.

Day 2
One of the rare days that I will wake up early...hahaha...I woke up at 6.10am to prepare breakfast & pack to catch the sunrise at the beach...I was late!! Bleagh :( Thank God for holding the sunrise...the placed clouds to block the sun before I sat on the beach! As soon as we got ourselves comfy at the beach, the sun peeked from behind the clouds & greeted us "good morning". Lovely!! :D *joy*

Restoran Galing's Curry Mee - RM3.30/bowl
Ok ok only...the quality kinda degraded d :(

After catching the sunrise, we went home to watch Pink Panther 2, lazed, & played Winning-11 (football game)! It was my first time playing such a game & Aaron was my sifu & team player :P I've bare minimum knowledge on football i.e. 22 players on the field & one full time = 90minutes! Hahaha...it was super funny. It has been ages since I held any joysticks (or whatever you call those) & played computer games with those equipment :D Fun!

We brought Abigail & Nichol out to the mall after that for some shopping & just to spend some time with them. If not, they'll be thinking why their chi-chi (sister) never spend time with them at all while she's in Kuantan :)

I had a nap after shopping while the kids watched tv at home & Aaron went for practice in church...when he was done with practice, I went over to his place, had dinner, & left for Resurrection Service at his church before heading back to my place to watch football....another day gone :( time flies!

Day 3
We didn't wake up for Sunrise Service at 6.30am, by the Taman Gelora beach! It was kinda drizzling, so we got a 'lil lazy & slept in instead :P It was one of the first times where I missed Sunrise Service when I'm in Kuatan...

We met up for a simple roti telur breakfast at Zam-Zam instead. Not too bad...the roti telur was actually quite nice. Apparently it was one of the better roti telurs in town...as for the rest of the food, I can't guarantee anything...

It was yet another rare occasion that Aaron's family attended service at Wesley :D It was great to be back at the church which I called my own for the past few years (during my uni days). I haven't attended Wesley's service with him, so it was rather different for once :) Meeting back with old friends & keeping each other updated was really good...I had a good time of worship & fellowship at church ;) It was raining after church service, so we ended up snoozing (again) before heading out for dinner around 7.15pm...

Dinner was with aunty Helen, Calvin, Rachel (zha-bo/cha-bo), Nichol, Phoebe, uncle Francis, aunty Ros, Abishua, Pao, & Abigail at a recommended restaurant for roast duck noodles. The roast duck was REALLY FANTASTIC!! *drools*

I would highly recommend it...the meat was tender & the best part was the skin - crispy!!! *crunch crunch* I wished to have more! Hahaha...the noodles was just a simple 'wan tan mee' kinda noodles with minced meat in dark sauce. Overall, the price was reasonable...the only set-back is the waiting time for the food to be served. We had to wait quite long for our food, but as what uncle Francis said, it was worth the wait :)

Drooling already...? :P

After dinner, Aaron & I went out for 'yum-cha' session with Michel & Michael at Taj in town. We didn't stay for very long cos it was getting very late & Aaron had to work the next day. The yum-cha session was good :) We did quite some catch up & I got to bond a 'lil more with both Mich & Mike, who are Aaron's close friends...

We sent the siblings back & headed to uncle Francis' place, where I stayed. Lazing is really the main part of our agenda....lol...we watched some vampire movie called "True Blood" & got hooked to that, 'til we decided to call it a night & he went home...

Day 4
*sigh* And so this day marks the end of my 'holiday'! *sobs* I woke up at 6.30am & Aaron came to pick me to the bus terminal around 7.10am...I left Kuantan on the 8am bus with Michel. Throughout the entire journey, yours truly slept (again!!) & rested all too well...kakakaka....super "sleeping beauty" :P

Michel & I got down at the Puduraya terminal in KL & had a lovely lunch at Shin Kee. A bowl of beef noodles costs RM6.00 (beef noodles are quite expensive), but it was worth paying the price for such quality food :D It was my 2nd time eating this beef noodles (1st time was with a good friend YShiong) & I could have more! *drools* Highly recommended!

Restaurant Nak Won

>> Saturday, April 4, 2009

Date: 4 April 2009, Saturday
Venue: Business Avenue Ampang Jaya
Occasion: Lunch with Anne & her colleagues
Overall comment: The first thing I noticed about this place was that the workers ain't Korean! I reckon they are Burmese...they're a little too dark to be Koreans! :D I thought they were Malay as well, but nope, this place serves pork, so they can't be Muslims. the second thing I noticed was the price of food - quite expensive! I nearly fainted & wanted to run out of the restaurant before I order anything...hahaha...However, after ordering, we realized that the portion wasn't too bad & the taste of food was pretty good :) You HAVE TO share cos 1. eating alone ain't that fun, 2. it's too costly to eat a variety of food alone, 3. portion is quite large. I would recommend this place if Romance & Cheers is closed (I think it's only opened for dinner). Enough said ;)
Halal: No

It was one of those rare moments where Anne & I could actually meet up! Yeap, I was pretty excited :D It's been almost 5 years since we became friends & I really cherish the friendship that we have with each other :)

It was out of randomness that I met up with her this afternoon. I wanted to have Korean food today, but I intended to call up another friend instead. Too bad that friend was on her way to Redang for a holiday. Bah. I thought I would just scrape the Korean food plan & just head to town to get my bus tickets plus 'lepak' alone at Low Yat/somewhere in KL (it's been a while since I last had time to go 'loiter' in the city :P).

Out of no where, Anne messaged me to ask me for the name of the Korean restaurant that I last visited & recommended. I didn't know she was back in KL for the weekend! Wergh. I found out that it was a very last minute plan to come back to KL...she & her housemate brought their 2 colleagues from the Philippines to the city for sight-seeing.

Alrighto, enough of rambling...kakakaka...time for the food! Prepare to drool...

The Restaurant

Let's start eating! *drumrolls* Appetizers (FOC/on the house)

"See also full dy...."

SO many dishes to wash :S

Check out the fire! Woohoo...charcoal bbq-ed food! Extra yummy :D

BBQ Marinated Boneless Beef Rib (RM53.00/serving)

Marinated Beef with Rice in Claypot (RM20.00/serving)

Bibimbap (RM15.00/serving)
Mixed rice with assorted vegetables served in a hot stone bowl

Dokbokgi (RM18.00/serving)
Korean rice cake fried with chilli sauce

Kimchi Soup served with rice (RM15.00/serving)

Poricha (FOC/on the house)
Each meal is concluded with a free roasted barley drink. It's a Korean's traditional drink...really nostalgic for me as I had this during my trip to Seoul 2 years back...

Watermelon for dessert (FOC/on the house)
Apparently each patron gets such things in their meals: Free appetizers (refillable, I would think, since it's a Korean custom), poricha, & watermelon/fruit as dessert.
