The Malaysia International Fireworks Competition is back!

I was there for last year’s event & it was indeed a blast! This year’s competition will open on the 12th of August 2008 (Tuesday) and will have its Grand Finale on the 29th of August 2008 (Friday). Competition begins at 9.30pm in the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), but it’s advisable to be there much earlier if you want to get a good view of the fireworks :)

In last year’s competition, I was there on the night that Italy competes, & my, my, the jam was massive! We couldn’t even get near to the PICC as too many cars were parked at the road itself on the way to PICC!! I reckon it’s actually nicer to view the fireworks from the roadside as compared to being in the PICC itself :)

In this year’s competition, you’ll be able to catch the excitement & cheer for teams Malaysia, China, Canada, Spain, & Australia. Teams Japan & Italy will not be in this year’s competition, but it will surely be exciting to watch China & Spain displaying their talents in Putrajaya!

Below is the schedule of the MIFC 2008:
12 August – Malaysia
16 August – China
20 August – Canada
24 August – Spain
29 August – Grand Finale (Australia)

Getting there (advice from MIFC08 website):
By Car
If you plan to drive, leave plenty of time to find parking and get to a good viewing spot. Traffic may be redirected in the Dataran Gemilang and Precient 4 and 5 areas. If you can, carpool with friends and neighbours.

Car Parks are situated at the Precient 4, and also at the atdesinated areas at Dataran Putrajaya near to the PPJ and POJ.. There will be shuttle buses wihch will pick up passengers from the Putrajaya Sentral, and also at the CarParks and will stop near to the Dataran Gemilang. All roads leading to PICC will be closed for traffic from 6pm.

By Public Transport
Nadi Putra and Rapid KL buses will be offering extra services in and out of Putrajaya. The ERL will also be available to send the public back to KL Sentral.

Do come over to Putrajaya for the exciting event! I’m very sure that you’ll be “wow”-ed by the beautiful displays! I'll definitely be there since I'm already in Cyberjaya!! Woohoo!!
