Lovely dinner at TGIF, 1 Utama

>> Monday, July 7, 2008

Everything was lovely! The company was awesome; the ambiance was nice; the food was good (though not excellent :P)!

Calvin & Rachel invited me for dinner yesterday :) It was my pleasure to share a meal with them, & no doubt, I had a wonderful dinner with them :)

It was just a simple meet up with the both of them since they're in KL...they're to leave for their honeymoon the today :) No amount of words would suffice on how I feel that night during the dinner. The joy was immense :p *Ruth's a happy bunny*

Friday's Lemonade

If you wanna have your food digested in a jiffy, order this drink. The level of acidity can kill any living organisms man! *lol* Calvin had this & he said, "Wah...cukup sour man..." & gave that squinted eyes & cringed-up face :P

Strawberry Surprise

Calling all strawberry-lovers! This drink is an authentically strawberry drink. It's not very sweet like those artificial ones, so if you're a 'natural strawberry lover', this will do the trick ;) Rachel ordered this & she loved it...

November Sea Breeze

Ruth loves trying out new stuff... especially those with strange names!

I thought my drink would turn out to be some 'blue coloured, weird tasting' drink. In actual fact, it came out as below! So strange! Why would they call it November Sea Breeze & it doesn't resemble anything 'sea' nor 'breeze'?

When I tasted it, I was trying to figure out how they derived the drink's name. I reckon it's the fact that it has a refreshing sorta taste...after a couple of sips & sniffs, I realized that it's actually fizzy apple (F & N Zapple) + lime juice! *lol*

Barbeque Chicken Salad

One piece of bbq-ed chicken breast meat, with herbs & spices, & smoothered with thick BBQ sauce, on top of freshly cut salad leaves, chopped tomatoes, slices of carrots, chopped purple cabbage, cheese bits, & finely cut parsley. The salad came with a simple dressing of extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, & some herbs! (this is what I think...could somewhat taste it :P)

Comments: The chicken was nicely bbq-ed & there was enough BBQ sauce to accompany the chicken. The salad greens were fresh & the simple dressing is to be commended, as it does not drown the taste of the fresh greens; in fact, it compliments it! :)

Mushroom, Chicken & Mushroom

Chicken breast meat deep fried 'til golden brown in Friday's special batter, topped with melted cheese & slices of fresh black mushrooms. The meal is accompanied fried fresh mushrooms (not sure if it's those Portobello ones) served with wasabi-fied mayonaise *lol*, fried French beans, fresh tomatoes with herbs, & the yummilicious mashed potatoes with cheese!

Comments: The breast meat was a little too thickly cut & tasteless, but the batter was nice. Overall, the chicken wasn't excellent, which was a tad disappointing. The fried musrooms were really nice, but it's best eaten on its own than to be dipped in the mayonaise. The mashed potatoes, I feel was by far the best thing on the platter!! It was 'divine'!! :P

Friday's Ribeye Steak

Grilled ribeye steak served with 2 side dishes of corn in cob & cheesy mashed potatoes.

Comments: The meat was rather tough, although Calvin ordered a medium rare steak, which is supposed to be tender & succulent. It was rather disappointing. The corn & mashed potatoes made the effort to cheer Calv up though...hahaha...he's a corn lover!

Jack Daniel Steak

Jack Daniel, for those who are not familiar with liquor, is a brand of Tennessee whiskey, known for its square bottles and black label, & is consumed in shots, neat, on the rocks, in mixed drinks (especially "Jack and Coke"), and as an ingredient in several cocktails.

This steak is named Jack Daniel Steak, as the meat is marinated with JD & the sauce contains JD as well.

Comments: The sauce was rather sweet & lacks the liqour somehow. We felt that it would taste better if there's more JD in the sauce that accompanies the steak.

Brownie Obsession: Double Choc Brownie with Ice Cream
Three slices of chocolate brownies, topped with one scoop of vanilla ice cream, & accompanied by caramel drizzles on top of the ice cream, with hot fudge in between the brownie slices & all over the dish! *yums!!!*

Comments: The overall taste was lovely! If you are a chocolate lover, you'll love this. The only thing that was a turn-off was the brownie, which I felt was overdone :( It's a little dry already....

Friday's Sundae

Vanila ice cream served with fudge & caramel, topped with fresh whipped cream & chopped macademia/almonds :) (I'm not too sure if it's macademia or almonds. It sure tasted like macademia, but macs are so expensive to be served as ice cream topping!)

Comments: There's a tad too much cream for my liking. It's not too bad a dessert though, but if given a choice, I'd rather go for the brownies or the mudpie (as most people recommend).

We also experienced something different at TGIF yesterday... they actually do a big hoo-haa if you celebrate your birthday there! I've no idea what the crew chanted, as it just sounded to me like some noise *lol* but I could decipher that one part of it was the birthday song! Hahahaha...it was fun nonetheless, though strange for Ruth :P
