Mama Mia Restaurant & Bistro, New Town

>> Sunday, May 11, 2008

This food outlet is pretty new in this area. Located on the same row as Poh Kong jewelry shop at State/New Town, Petaling Jaya, the restaurant is pretty easily seen from afar. The signboard "Mama Mia Restaurant & Bistro" is huge & brown in color, & the restaurant is just facing the main road.

They have a good variety of 'Hong Kong style' food, just like the Wong Kok Char Chan Teng & the Kim Gary eateries, but I reckon the price here is more reasonable, the environment is MUCH better since it's not so noisy & hot, & the food served is actually quite nice :) The only thing is that my food wasn't salty enough. This is one place where 'salt isn't cheap'! *lol* Oh ya..parking can be quite a problem too unless you're willing to pay a little more to park at the car park building behind.

Well, if you're looking for some decent food at not too high a price, & have a comfortable place to dine, this place will work for you...

Mama Mia Menu

Signature Dishes (their English is certainly not the best :S)
Clockwise from top left: Fire Ball (RM4.90), Spicy Fish Fillet Rice (RM6.50), Deep Fried Fish Fillet with Butter Cream (RM9.50), Fried Imperial Noodles (RM8.50), Tom Yam Fried Rice (RM6.50)

Set Meals
For RM9.90++ you can get a main course of Thai Style Fried Rice/Singapore Fried Mee Hoon/Seafood Curry Noodles + Coffee/Tea/Ice Lemon Tea + Ice Cream

Dumplings & starters

Desserts & Snacks

Variety of ice blended goodies & drinks

Here's what we had:

Set Lunch: Thai Style Fried Rice
Rice was a little bland, though fragrant with turmeric & curry powder. It comes with quite a lot of ingredients like diced carrots, veggie (I couldn't taste what it is! amazing...), prawns, & chicken char siew/bbq chicken + papadam + lil bit of veggie

Set Lunch: Ice Lemon Tea
Tea wasn't too sweet & is quite nicely flavored with the lemon

Set Lunch: Dessert of Ice Cream
The portion I felt is pathetically small...haha...if you eat it petitely, you may finish it in 2 teaspoons, otherwise, you can just pop the whole thing into your mouth & wait for it to melt :P

Fish & Chips with Butter Cream Sauce
Nothing very spectacular about this dish. The sauce didn't do justice to the platter as it was a little too diluted...

Chocolate Milk Shake (RM5.50)
Quite a delicious drink if you fancy chocolate

Fried Imperial Noodles (RM8.50)
This noodles is quite tasty. I feel that it taste better than the fried rice that I had!
